Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about installing, operating, and maintaining your Ohm Battery battery.

LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) batteries offer significantly longer cycle life (5,000+ vs 300–500), are 50–70% lighter, charge faster, require zero maintenance, and provide consistent voltage output throughout the discharge cycle. They also have a higher upfront cost but deliver a lower total cost of ownership over time.
Our drop-in batteries are designed for direct replacement. Remove your old lead-acid battery, place the Ohm Battery unit in the same tray, connect the positive (+) and negative (−) terminals, and tighten securely. No special wiring or charger modifications are needed for most applications. Always consult the installation guide for your specific model.
Yes. Most Ohm Battery batteries support parallel connections up to 16 units for increased capacity. Ensure all batteries are the same voltage, capacity, and state of charge before connecting. Use equal-length cables between parallel strings, and connect positive to positive and negative to negative. The BMS units will auto-balance within the pack.
For 12V LiFePO4 batteries, charge at 14.2–14.6V. For 24V, use 28.4–29.2V. For 48V, use 56.8–58.4V. Always check your battery's datasheet for the exact recommendation. Using a lithium-specific charger or a charger with a LiFePO4 profile is recommended for optimal performance and longevity.
Yes, every Ohm Battery battery includes a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) that protects against overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, short-circuit, and thermal runaway. Many models also include Bluetooth connectivity for real-time monitoring via the Ohm Battery app.
All standard Ohm Battery batteries come with a 5-year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects and premature capacity loss. Industrial and custom OEM packs may carry different terms depending on the agreement. See the Warranty Policy section below for full details.
Standard models discharge down to −20°C and charge at 0°C to 55°C. Our RV and Marine lines include self-heating functionality that pre-warms cells before charging in sub-zero conditions, enabling safe charging in temperatures as low as −20°C.
In many cases, yes. Most modern chargers with an AGM or lithium profile will work. If your charger only has a flooded lead-acid profile (which may use higher voltages or desulfation pulses), it is not recommended. Contact our support team with your charger model for verification.
LiFePO4 batteries are non-toxic and recyclable. Do not dispose of them in household trash. Contact your local recycling center or return the battery to Ohm Battery for responsible recycling. We participate in closed-loop recycling programs to recover lithium, copper, and aluminum materials.
Ohm Battery batteries are certified to UL 1973, UL 2271, CE, UN38.3, and RoHS. We also hold ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management certifications. Specific certification marks vary by product line and target market — check the datasheet for your model.

Troubleshooting Guide

Common issues and quick fixes before reaching out to our support team.

⚠ Battery Won't Charge

Check that the charger voltage matches the battery rating and that terminals are clean and tight. Verify the BMS has not triggered a low-temperature cutoff (below 0°C for standard models).

Solution: Warm the battery above 5°C, inspect cable connections, and try a LiFePO4-specific charger. If the BMS LED is red, power-cycle the battery by disconnecting the load for 30 seconds.

⚠ BMS Alarm Triggered

A BMS alarm usually indicates over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, or a temperature fault. Check the Ohm Battery app for the specific alarm code.

Solution: Remove all loads and chargers, wait 60 seconds for the BMS to reset, then reconnect. If the alarm persists, contact support with the error code.

⚠ Lower Than Expected Capacity

If runtime seems short, the battery may not be fully charged, or the charger may be terminating early. Also verify that loads are not exceeding the rated continuous discharge current.

Solution: Perform a full charge cycle with a known-good charger, check the BMS app for cell balance, and verify your load profile against the battery datasheet.

⚠ Bluetooth Connection Lost

Bluetooth range is typically 10–15 meters without obstruction. Metal enclosures, other active Bluetooth devices, or low battery voltage can affect connectivity.

Solution: Move closer to the battery, ensure it is powered on (voltage above 12V for 12V models), close other Bluetooth apps, and restart the Ohm Battery app. Re-pair if necessary.
